Huey

A walking robot you build.

Huey stands about 25 cm tall on two legs, with 15 servos, an Arduino UNO Q for a brain and a face made of pixels. We send the parts. You print the shell.

A face made of 104 pixels

Huey's face is the UNO Q's own LED matrix, 13 by 8. The board stands upright behind a black window, with the camera eye above it. A printed grid behind the window turns every LED into one sharp square.

Eyes, moods, battery level, a hello: it all runs on those 104 squares, from your own code.

  • 15 Feetech HD-1910 bus servos, each with its joint ID set and labelled
  • The Huey hat for the UNO Q: servo bus, power and the sensor ports
  • IMX219 camera with M12 lens, VL53L8CX distance sensor, speaker
  • Bearings, a 1.5 mm hex key, two screw sizes: M2×5 and M2×8
  • The shell files, ours and free. Print them at home or have a farm near you print them through CE Print

Lid and front of the box, the real print artwork.

A flat corrugated mailer, 270 × 235 × 130 mm inside, sized from the measured parts. The lid carries the head, the name and the paint band. The front has a QR code that opens the build book on your phone.

The brand

The logo is Huey's own head: an off-white box, a black window, the camera lens on top, and two eyes lit on the real 13 × 8 LED grid. The band under the window carries the five colours we poured on our own Huey.

Built on open work

Huey belongs to a family of small walking robots started by Open Duck Mini and Pollen Robotics' Microduck. Hundreds of people have shared bodies, trained networks, simulators and tools for them. See the community projects, each credited to its author.

The electronics and software are open source: walking-robot-kit on GitHub. If you would rather get a tested kit from us, reserve one.
