Can your Bambu print carbon fibre

Carbon and glass fibre filaments wear a soft nozzle out, and so does glow-in-the-dark PLA. Bambu's own filament profiles mark 22 filaments as needing a hardened nozzle, and its printer profiles say which nozzle each printer ships with. Pick yours and see what it can run as it comes.

What the profiles say

6 of 14 ship stainless. The A1, A1 mini, A2L, P1P, P1S and plain X1 come with a stainless steel nozzle, hardness 20. The fibre filaments ask for 40.

Glow PLA counts too. Bambu PLA Glow carries the same hardened-nozzle requirement as PA-CF. The glowing powder is abrasive.

The fix is one part. A hardened steel nozzle, hardness 55, runs all 22. Swap it before the fibre spool, not after the first one has eaten the old nozzle.

Your printer, 22 abrasive filaments

From BambuStudio 02.08.02.61: the printer's nozzle_type in its 0.4 mm machine profile, its hardness in the slicer's own nozzle_info.json (brass 2, stainless steel 20, hardened steel 55, tungsten carbide 85), and each filament's required_nozzle_HRC through its preset chain. Filaments not listed ask for no special nozzle. Other makers are left out on purpose: several of their profiles in the same slicer mark the nozzle as hardened steel on printers sold with brass ones, so the profile cannot be trusted there. Tell us your nozzle and we check it by hand.
