Shared printers that refuse bad files

A makerspace or school lab with a row of Bambu printers and fifty people sending to them. Someone sends a file sliced for a different printer, the head travels where that printer has no room, and the next person finds the mess. We check every file against the printer it is going to before it starts, and refuse it with the reason and the line.

What goes wrong in a shared room

Sliced for the wrong printer. An H2S file sent to an A1 moves faster and further than the A1 can. The check below shows exactly where.

Settings copied from a forum. Speeds and temperatures past what the machine or the filament takes. It prints for an hour, then fails.

Nobody owns the printer. When a print fails, nobody knows whose file it was or why, so the same mistake comes back next week.

A real check, on a real file

A three-layer PETG test plate, sliced in BambuStudio 2.08 for an H2S. Pick the printer it is about to go to:

Both results are the checker's real output on this file, 15 October 2026. Fourteen checks run on it: cold extrusion, temperatures, speed, flow, print area, the vendor's own travel range, retraction, layers, wrong machine and how the printer is left at the end (two more open Bambu .3mf archives). We run it on our own printers in Shenzhen before every plate.

    What you get

    One door to the printers
People send to the room, not to a printer. A file that fails is refused with the check that failed and the line, so they can fix it themselves.
Each file matched to its machine
Limits come from the printer's own BambuStudio profile and the filament in the file, and every number says where it came from.
    A record of every print
Who sent it, to which printer, what the check said, and whether it finished.
    Your printers stay yours
It runs on a small computer in your room, next to the printers. Files stay on your network.
