Which spools can share a plate

A multi-colour print puts every spool through the same hot nozzle. Bambu Studio sorts filament types into three temperature groups and refuses to slice some mixes at all. Pick your spools and see what it will say before you load the AMS.

Check a mix

The three groups

High: 15 types. ABS, ASA, ASA-CF, PC, PA, PA-CF, PA-GF, PA6-CF, PET-CF, PPS, PPS-CF, PPA-CF, PPA-GF, ABS-GF and ASA-AERO.

Low: 10 types. PLA, TPU, TPU-AMS, PLA-CF, PLA-AERO, PVA, BVOH, PCTG, PETG and PETG-CF.

Either: 8 types. HIPS, PE, PP, EVA, PE-CF, PP-CF, PP-GF and PHA. They mix with one group or the other with a warning.

From the slicer itself: the groups are resources/info/filament_info.json (version 1.0.0.4) in BambuStudio 02.08.02.61, and the verdicts and messages are Print::check_multi_filaments_compatibility and check_multi_filament_valid in its source. With objects printed one at a time, the slicer checks each object's own spools, supports included. A type it does not list gets no check at all. This is the slicer's rule, not a test of every pair on a real printer.

What you get

Your mix checked

The split, done
Two plates or two printers, timed, so the colours still land where you want them.
The file checked
